Planning Your Dive Holiday

Geographical position

The Seychelles are located 2000km (1,256 miles) east of Kenya, and about 3,300 Km (2,000 miles) from Dubai.

The Republic of Seychelles is an island archipelago of ca. 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, just 4 degrees south of
the equator. Every day has about 12 hours of sunlight, and 12 hours of night time!

Airlines to Seychelles International Airport Victoria/Mahé (SEZ)

The following airlines fly to the Seychelles: Air Seychelles, Condor, Emirates, Etihad, Ethiopian Airways,
Turkeys Airways, Air Austral, Kenya Airways, Qatar Airways, Edelweiss.

Climate

The Seychelles have a very pleasant tropical climate throughout the year. Temperatures are rarely above 30°C.
Rainfall is highest from October to February but showers seldom last long.

Best Time To Dive

The very best times to visit the Seychelles for diving is during the months of October/November and
March/April with calm seas, good underwater visibility, and sunny weather.

Wind

The south-east wind is strongest and cooler, blowing from June to September, Seas are then rough, except for the northern part of the island where our dive center and many of our dive sites are situated.

The generally weaker and warm North-West winds are blowing from October until the end of April.

Sea water

Sea water temperature ranges from 25 to 26°C during the months of June until August and
27 to 29°C from September until the end of May.

Visibility

The visibility underwater is generally best from October until the end of May.

Decompression Chamber

The Decompression chamber is located in the Victoria Hospital on Mahe, and
also Silhouette island is home to a decompression chamber.

Diving insurance

As a diver is it important that you arrange your own suitable diving insurance. Diving is declared as a
‘higher risk sport’ and the costs due to a diving accident like emergency-transport, recovery and
deco-chamber treatments may not be covered from the usual insurances. Divers Alert Network DAN,
offers divers medical insurance and is available worldwide.

Children

We can look after your Children at the dive center while you are diving. During daytrips, you may take your
children with you. We have two life-jackets available for a 2-4 year old child.

Children of 8 to 10 years old can discover scuba diving with the new PADI Bubble Makers Program. See the Courses
page for more detailed information. Children of 10 years old can participate in the PADI Scuba Diver and PADI Open
Water Diver Course to obtain the internationally recognized Junior Diving Certificate and Kids of 12 years older can
participate in the Adventure Diver Course and Advanced Open Water Diver Course.
